Christine Rizzo, my events manager, and I recently returned from a marvelous mission trip to Trinidad and Tobago. Twelve hundred people from all over the Caribbean Islands came out for a two-day conference on the TOB. It will go down as one of the most memorable trips of my career, I’m sure. This is a nation where drugs, crime, and gangs seem to rule. Neighborhood homes are surrounded by barbed-wire fences. And a recent Google survey points to Trinidad and Tobago as the having the highest clicks on internet porn per capita of any nation in the world.
Yet where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more. The enthusiasm the participants had for the message of the TOB was awe inspiring. The weekend was filled with catechesis, music, prayer and the Sacraments. And this was a first -- the music ministry team wrote a theme-song for the event. Very fun. The event was video- taped and will be broadcast for the next year on the local cable channels in the islands. Please pray that through these broadcasts the message of TOB will continue to bring more Trinidadians closer to heart of Christ and the true meaning of their creation as male and female, helping to reduce their crime, drugs and use of pornography. In 1498 Christopher Columbus named this Island for the Trinity. Let's pray that the spread of the TOB will help Trinidadians reclaim their island for the Trinity.
